On 5th February, 16 Willoughby swimmers ventured to PLC Aquatic Centre for the SMNE Speedo Sprint Heats. Our swimmers were: Toby Brandon-Cooper, Ruby Fitzgerald, Sienna Fitzgerald, Lauren Gibson, Matilda Hancock, Jett Ho, Millie Hole, Remy Lennon, Angus Miller, Josh Miller, Rachel Montford, Stella Morgan, Bailey Screen, Cooper Screen, Jayden Screen and Henry Whitwell. Well done to you all. Based on results, Remy, Josh, Bailey and Sienna were selected for the SMNE Area team to compete at the Finals on March 12 at SOPAC.
From our first ever participation at NSW Speedo Finals in 2011, SMNE Area has performed well and placed either 2nd or 3rd each year.
In 2017, the SMNE Area Team finished at the top of the point score. This is a fabulous achievement indeed! Remy and Bailey are to be congratulated for their tremendous effort at this event, both boys narrowly missing out on a medal – with 4th placings in the 11 years boys 50 Backstroke and 10 years boys 50 Breaststroke. Congratulations also to Josh and Sienna who also swam well in their finals events.
Congratulations to all of our Willoughby Swim Club 2017 Speedo Sprint swimmers.
For all Speedo sprints heats and finals results, please see our club results page, located under the competition tab of our website.
Our clubs fundraising BBQ will be held this Sunday from 9am-5pm at Bunnings Artarmon. Please contact Marianne Urth if you are able to volunteer to assist with a two-hour shift to help us.
